Silk Screen Project
The silk screen project was so much fun! I've never been exceptionally skilled at Photoshop but this project helped me understand it a lot more than I did before the project. In the beginning of the project I chose images online and created silhouettes that you can look at below. After I chose my favorite silhouette I burned them onto a silk screen and copied them onto a canvas bag. I chose the Peter Pan image below because it was my older sisters 18th birthday and she loves Peter Pan. Although my personal favorite image was the tiger, I loved all of the intricate details.
The actual silk screening was a bit more difficult than just creating silhouettes on Photoshop. First, I had to take a silk screen and cover it in green emulsion and let it sit in complete darkness overnight. The next day I put a hot lamp over the silk screen and added my image. I kept the image on the screen for 15 minutes. After I had finished burning my image onto the screen I had to hose the screen off and let it sit in the sun. After they had dried I took my canvas bag and covered it in paint over the burned image. And that is the entire process.
Because this project took a lot of time and needed a lot of supervision three people in the class were excluded from the #Selfie project to aid others in burning their images. I was one of those three, so now I'm exceptionally skilled at screen printing, and partially skilled at Photoshop.
Overall, I am really proud of myself for all of the images I created on Photoshop because I feel like they really define my personality and for being a part of the Silk Screening Group because I learned the entire process perfectly.
