Teenagers need to know the dangers of drugs and alcohol before they even begin thinking of trying them. Kids need to be exposed to what drugs will do to their brains, bodies and futures before they reach high school and all of the pressures that come along with “fitting in”. Drugs affect everyone. There is not one person who doesn’t know anybody in their life who has experimented with illicit substances. There are always going to be kids who sell drugs on school campuses, and unfortunately there are always going to be kids who buy those drugs. But the number of kids who do buy and use drugs can be cut in half, then cut in half again, and again, until there is nobody left to take those drugs. This is a call to action, it is time to start educating the kids of America before they’ve started taking drugs, before the damage has been done. It is time for them to know how their futures will be affected before they know anyone who has experimented with illicit substances. It is time to research and learn of the consequences of substance abuse, before their most critical developmental years.
